What is an online scorecard?
An online scorecard is a hosted set of questions that scores a person against criteria you define and shows them where they stand, usually as a number with a written interpretation.
What makes it a scorecard rather than a quiz
The score is measured against a standard you set, not against other respondents or a personality archetype.
A quiz commonly sorts people into types, which is engaging and tells you little about whether to sell to them. A scorecard measures against a bar, so the output is directly actionable in both directions: the respondent learns where they fall short, and you learn whether they clear it.
Where scorecards tend to work
Wherever buyers suspect they have a problem but cannot size it, and the seller's first conversation is usually spent diagnosing.
That describes most advisory and service businesses, which is why scorecards cluster there. It describes transactional e-commerce much less well, where the buyer knows exactly what they want and a scorecard is an obstacle between them and it.
